It was a September afternoon, and I was leaving home feeling calm and satisfied, ready for an afternoon of work. After the perfect lunch break, I felt energized and productive: I had eaten my favorite pasta, enjoyed a 20-minute nap, and had just finished a little coffee.

I opened the front door, started to step outside, and then one glance at the doormat completely changed my mood.

As if a boxer had been waiting outside my house to hit me with an uppercut, I saw my doormat covered with dead bees.

Imagine a world without bees.

This is what you would see after just a few months in a world without bees.

The only place where bees still exist is the green oasis in front of you.

All things we take for granted — and yet, without bees, they might no longer exist.

Bees help maintain the balance of nature. According to the FAO, 75% of food crops depend on pollination by bees. Through pollination, bees contribute to the reproduction of countless plants and to the protection of biodiversity.

The shocking truth I had discovered just a few days before finding that “cemetery” of bees right on my doorstep was this: without bees, the human race could disappear within 500 days.

And bees do not die by chance.

They are killed by pollution, pesticides, and by habitats that, as they change, become increasingly hostile.

What was happening around my home?

We talked about it at KM Soltec, and we felt the desire to give concrete meaning to a word that has always been part of who we are: sustainability.

That is why we decided to adopt a company beehive with 3Bee.

Why we chose 3Bee

When it comes to sustainability, the risk is always the same: stopping at words.

3Bee is an Italian company that works to protect biodiversity through technology, data, and concrete environmental projects.

Through its Company Beehive project, 3Bee allows businesses to adopt a beehive, support the work of beekeepers, and contribute to the protection of bees and pollinators.

But the most interesting aspect is this: it is not just a symbolic “beehive adoption.”

Everyone in the company can check the status of “our” beehive and feel personally involved, responsible, and proud.

Thanks to technology, the beehives can be monitored remotely through digital systems that help collect useful data on the condition of the hive and the surrounding environment.

In the coming weeks, we will also get to meet “BEA,” the queen bee ?? of “our” beehive.

The queen bee is the only fertile female in the colony. Her main role is to lay eggs and ensure the continuity of the hive. Every day, through her activity, she allows the colony to grow, renew itself, and maintain its balance.

The company beehive has brought sustainability into the everyday life of KM Soltec.

It does so through concrete support for a beekeeper in Molveno, who, thanks to our contribution, is helping improve the quality of life of our precious planet — even if only a little.

For KM Soltec, this project represents a small but concrete step toward a much bigger goal.

We believe that today, innovation, technology, and sustainability can no longer travel on separate paths.
